KING LEAR

At the beginning of July I toured with Freehold's Engaged Theatre program, taking Shakespeare's KING LEAR to underserved communities including men, women and youth in prison. Performances included Washington Correctional Center for Women, McChord Air Force Base, Monroe Correctional Complex, Echo Glen Juvenile Detention Center, in addition to public showings in Seward Park and a multi-night run at the Lee Center. really feeling the effects of 2 straight months working on a project that started with banishing the truth tellers and then killed off everyone in the story, everyone recognizing their faults and refusal to make better choices, but not before anything can be done to save the dead...and then looking at the world (both up close and from afar) and seeing the same thing over and over again....*sigh* Lear, you are a heavy mofo.... looking forward to some release with the Conduction folks tonight... (you can't get this day back)
