BE WHOLE
I am constantly frustrated by the portrayal of women as being one sided - you are a sexy woman, or a smart woman, or a funny woman, or a strong woman, or a cute woman, or a talented woman - whatever it is, for the most part our world reinforces over and over again that you are mostly one and you have to pick which archetype it is going to be....that's your role, now stay there.
I think that's bull shit.
People - PEOPLE - are multifaceted. They are never singular at any point...and the one thing they are doing consistently from second to second - the ONLY thing they are doing consistently second to second, is CHANGING.
I am in a constant state of trying to balance my various personas - my health and happiness depend on this balance.
I am a dynamic person and each side of the prism is a necessary part to the whole. There's the Artist. There's Frank (as in director of The Frank Agency: Innovative Arts Management), There's the Director of the non-profit Advocates for Abundance through Action in the Arts, and then there's the Woman...who's just a woman - who needs to eat, sleep, love, shit and fuck just like every other (wo)man in the world...
you can't have one of them without any of the others - it's a package deal....again WHOLE, as in "comprising the full quantity without exception...containing all the elements properly belonging."
The more I acknowledge and honor the various aspects of myself the more I flourish - each has different needs and combined make for an incredibly rich and exciting life.
I have started a project of trying to capture myself in some of the different states. This will go on for a long time, and it isn't for anyone else...just for me. It's just an acknowledgement.
ACKNOWLEDGE YOUR WHOLE SELF.

CHECK POINT
Focused.
Still have some slight residual pain from feeling disrespected, but generally speaking I have never felt so great in my life. That big book, the one I've been so tired of reading through in some form or fashion, is now closed and shelved in the archive (to be utilized as reference material).
Liberation from the past.
Freedom to celebrate.
Freedom to be.
Opportunity to dream.
Opportunity to grow.
Happiness is pretty fucking cool.
Everything is illuminated...

NEW STRATEGY- THE ORIGINAL INTENTION
For sometime I have been frustrated by knowing what needs to be done to make an effective marketing campaign for Frank's artists, but not having any funds what-so-ever to make it happen...so in my opinion everything since 2004 has fallen slightly short of hitting the mark it needs to from a promotional angle - ok, ok, there has been major success with some of the big projects, no doubt, and when an artist has a dedicated budget/time to facilitate marketing and promotion we totally rock it, hardcore....and yes, all of it has been (and will continue to be) a progression that gets stronger and clearer all the time...if we're doing the job correctly...
But coming from the place of "we need this but we can't afford it so nothing will happen" is a ridiculous way to operate...absolutely silly...I'm an improviser for crying out loud....AN IMPROVISER!!

(my sister is on tour right now...whenever she leaves with this particular band my dreams become SUPER strong, clear and surreal - it is amazing and beautiful. almost like the more physical distance there is the stronger the spiritual connection becomes. INCREDIBLE RELATIONSHIPS!!)

CONNECTION
Our eyes met and it was one of those instances.
You know exactly what I'm talking about - we've all encountered it in some form.
You are able to look a little deeper than with most people you brush into day to day. Something in you says that you know each other - or knew each other - or understand something about each other. It's all in there all at once.
Connection.
You are connected.
There is a semblance in the frequency.
It is recycling between the two of you, undulating and amplifying with each second.
It is so important to notice when it happens - and to honor it.
Because it is of great immeasurable valuable.
In that instant - you see more of yourself, more of others, and therefore more of the environment you are in.
In that instant - (your) humanity grows.
We are differentiated by probably 20 years in age, our race, our social status/activity, and life experiences - yet we knew we were just 2 tired women in the rain.
We shared space for over 20 minutes. She asked each passerby for change, eventually pausing for a moment to smoke a cigarette and step outside of it all. I waited for a cab with heavy bags of groceries.
When it arrived she lowered her head and raised her cigarette as if to say cheers!
I looked at her for the last moment and said "good luck"
she looked back into me and replied - "you too."
